Montenegrin Diplomacy: A Contest of Who Will Give Mandić More Attention
In light of Milorad Dodik’s recent assertion that Montenegro has intervened to prevent Interpol from issuing an arrest warrant against him, it becomes evident that our officials, notably Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović, are prioritizing the interests of other nations over their own. This has led to a significant undermining of their country’s credibility, as remarked by Mileta Radovanić, the Secretary General of the Civic Movement URA.
“It appears that Montenegrin diplomacy has turned into a contest of who can better cater to Mandić’s preferences. Spajić and Ibrahimović seem to function more as aides within his political team rather than as leaders of a sovereign nation. Their approach increasingly mirrors a coordinated effort awaiting directives from the leadership of the former Democratic Front before making crucial decisions,” he stated.
“If this trend continues, we could soon witness them seeking Dodik’s input on foreign policy actions, potentially even consulting him on what constitutes Montenegro’s best interests. Meanwhile, the country’s standing on the global stage is deteriorating, as the ruling elite continuously demonstrates a willingness to prioritize party and personal agendas over institutional integrity, disregarding the harm inflicted on the state for the sake of maintaining their power,” Radovanić concluded.
