The prospects for advancing to the quarter-finals of the Eurocup were not particularly favorable even when the draw placed Jadran in Savona, and they became even less promising after the initial match.
Tomorrow (Saturday) at 18:00 in Trebinje, the Montenegrin water polo champions will compete in the return match of the round of 16, which is the second highest tier competition in Europe, against the Italian side.
After suffering a six-goal deficit (16:10) in Liguria, the continuation of the European journey will be notably more challenging.
“If we perform at our best, I believe we can secure a victory. If we find our rhythm, capitalize on our opponents’ errors, and enhance our defensive play, I hope we will be able to overcome the disadvantage from Italy,” stated Petar Radanović, coach of the Adriatic team.
The strategist from Herceg Novi is aware of the mistakes his team made during the first encounter.
“Ultimately, the outcome wasn’t as we had hoped; the goal difference was significant, but two weeks have passed since then. We’ve prepared, analyzed, and identified our errors. We lacked aggressiveness, and we need to improve our swimming and one-on-one confrontations to secure the necessary positions,” Radanović added.
For a miraculous result in Trebinje, the players from Škver will rely heavily on another outstanding performance from Vasilij Radović.
“We’ve reviewed our mistakes, and I am confident we can correct them. Victory is our goal – I’m not sure if it will be by six points, but we are certainly going for the win.”
