The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, along with its diplomats, did not take any action to stop Interpol from approving the issuance of a red notice for Milorad Dodik and Nenad Stevandic.

This statement was made by Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović on the X network.

His remarks came in response to claims made by the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, who alleged that Montenegro had intervened to prevent Interpol from issuing a red notice for him and the President of the RS National Assembly, Nenad Stevandić.

“In light of Milorad Dodik’s statement, which has been propagated by irresponsible individuals without proper fact-checking to gain cheap political points at Montenegro’s institutional expense, I unequivocally reject the assertion that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, or any of its diplomats, was involved in preventing Interpol from sanctioning a red notice for Milorad Dodik and Nenad Stevandić. We remain committed to upholding the principles of the rule of law, fostering good-neighborly relations, and respecting international law,” Ibrahimović asserted.

He condemned any attempts to manipulate the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro for unfounded political calculations and speculation.

“In ongoing discussions with colleagues from the Government, I received assurances that no personnel from other departments were involved in this matter. Any ‘engagement’ from an official capacity in Montenegro aimed at obstructing Interpol at the behest of Bosnia and Herzegovina in issuing an arrest warrant for Milorad Dodik (or any other individual) would constitute a significant interference in another state’s internal affairs and a serious violation of good neighborly relations with our ally, Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

Ibrahimović emphasized that healthy neighborly relations can only thrive when they are institutional and based on mutual respect, recognizing territorial integrity and sovereignty, which entails full respect for the Constitution, laws, and decisions from state bodies and courts.

“In this light, Montenegro acknowledges every ruling from the courts of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the right of individuals to appeal those decisions in higher judicial instances, in accordance with the Constitution and the law. As Montenegro’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, I stress that our stance is clear: full respect for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, Constitution, and laws, and opposition to any actions that undermine its constitutional order and territorial sovereignty. Ensuring peace and stability in the region is vital for us all and has no alternative. As President of the Bosniak Party, I assure that we shall relentlessly oppose secessionist, anti-constitutional, and anti-Dayton actions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and reject any support for such initiatives from Montenegro, particularly from its government officials, ensuring that no one obstructs our progress toward European integration,” concluded Ibrahimović.
