Montenegro’s Navy Takes Action to Prevent Environmental Incident in Herceg Novi

For the past two days, members of the Navy of the Army of Montenegro have actively participated in the effort to combat sea pollution, including responding to a fire on the motor yacht “Ramonda” at the Portonovi marina in Herceg Novi, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Defense.
The government agency reported that seven professional military personnel were involved in this operation to avert an environmental disaster, utilizing the ECO-1 vessel from the Maritime Safety Administration.
“Members of the MVCG are well-trained in operating the ECO-1 and using its marine pollution response equipment,” the statement noted.
On two occasions, the Ministry of Defense received requests for assistance from the Maritime Safety and Port Management Administration.
“With the approval of the Minister of Defense, members of the Navy of the Army of Montenegro were deployed as part of the III mission of the Army of Montenegro, which focuses on supporting civilian institutions during crisis situations, always prioritizing the protection of our citizens and their safety,” the conclusion of the statement read.
