The draw held in Paris today established the groups for the handball tournament at the upcoming Olympic Games, where the host nation, France, will aim to defend their gold medals in both events.

In the men’s handball division, France will compete in Group B alongside Denmark, Norway, Hungary, Egypt, and Argentina. Meanwhile, Group A features Spain, Croatia, Slovenia, Germany, Sweden, and Japan.

The reigning Olympic champions, the French handball team, find themselves in Group B with Hungary, the Netherlands, Spain, Brazil, and Angola. Group A includes Norway, Germany, Slovenia, Sweden, Denmark, and South Korea.

At the Olympic tournament, Slovenia, led by Montenegrin expert Dragan Adžić, will face Germany, who outperformed Montenegro during the qualification rounds.

The women’s handball tournament is scheduled to commence on July 25 and conclude on August 10.

Women’s handball teams will begin their matches the day following the opening ceremony, on July 27, with the finals taking place on the final day of the Games, August 11.
