The “students” excelled in long-range shooting, draining 20 of 30 three-point attempts against Split, ultimately sealing a decisive victory in Round 24 of the Admiralbet ABA League (102:89).
Petar Mijović’s squad established a 17-point lead in the second quarter and maintained it until the end. When the guests started closing the gap in the final quarter at 81:76, Igor Drobnjak responded decisively with four three-pointers.
This marked SC Derby’s second consecutive victory, bringing their record to 9-15. The teams currently in playoff contention are ahead by three wins.
The Montenegrin team took control of the match early, leading 41:24 after a three-pointer from David Mirković.
SC Derbi maintained their strong play, but Antonio Sikirić sparked a Split resurgence in the first half of the fourth quarter. Nevertheless, any potential comeback was thwarted by Drobnjak’s four three-pointers during a crucial stretch.
Drobnjak, the “students” point guard, scored five times from beyond the arc, while Luka Bogavac and Erik Nil both added four three-pointers. Mirković, Zoran Vučeljić, and Andrija Grbović each contributed two three-pointers.
In terms of scoring, Bogavac and Nil were tied as the top performers with 20 points each (with Nil also providing seven assists), followed by Drobnjak with 18 and Vučeljić with 14. On the opposing side, Adam Smith led with 16 points.
Next up for SC Derbi is a home match against Igokea on Sunday.
