URA Unveils Economic Development Strategy for Nikšić, Enhancing Its Role in Congress and Sports Tourism
The URA in Nikšić presents a detailed, pragmatic, and sustainable strategy for the city’s economic growth and its strategic positioning within the congress and sports tourism sectors, as stated by Jasmina Krsmanović, a candidate for councilor from the “URA – Drugačije – Dušan Golović!” list.
“Upon assuming office, we aim to finalize the eastern stand of the stadium near Bistrica within the next four years, renovate the athletics track, complete the congress hall in the House of Revolution, and foster the development of new hotel facilities that are desperately needed in Nikšić. These initiatives, which are crucial for our local community, will be executed through public-private partnerships, thereby minimizing the financial impact on the city’s budget,” she assured.
Krsmanović further explained that executing these or similar initiatives in collaboration with various partners—ranging from national sports federations, the Government of Montenegro, private investors, to congress organizers—will not only alleviate the financial burden on the city but also enhance the overall economic development vision.
“Facilitating international matches of a higher caliber, such as those involving the national team alongside FK Sutjeska, in addition to hosting congresses, conferences, and other events, would provide a comprehensive offering. This would enable us to place Nikšić prominently on the map of congress and sports tourism, making it appealing for sports teams’ preparations from the region and beyond, while also establishing it as a central hub for socio-political events through congress tourism,” the GP URA candidate highlighted.
She expressed confidence that this particular tourism development model would promote continual visits to Nikšić year-round, contrasting sharply with Montenegro’s seasonal tourism trends.
“An equally critical aspect is that executing the aforementioned projects would generate a significant number of new jobs and enhance the local population’s spending capability. This, in turn, would lead to an exponential economic impact, essential for sustainable development. For a transformed Nikšić with flourishing congress and sports tourism, please mark number 5,” Krsmanović concluded.
