Preparations Underway for the Two-Match Playoff Against Italy
The Montenegro men’s handball team will convene on Monday in Podgorica to initiate their preparations for a crucial double-header against Italy in the World Championship play-off.
The first match is set to take place on May 9 in Konversan, with the rematch scheduled for May 12 at the SC “Morača”.
Coach Vlado Šola has already revealed the roster of 18 players vying for a spot in the team for this upcoming set of matches.
The team mainly comprises players who participated in the last major tournament—the European Championship in Germany—while Filip Krivokapić and Milorad Bakić may potentially make their debuts in official A-team matches.
In March, the team engaged in friendly games against Georgia.
The goalkeepers included are: Nebojša Simić, Nikola Matović, Haris Suljević;
Wings: Miloš Vujović, Aleksandar Bakić, Mirko Radović, Luka Radović;
Pivots: Vuk Lazović, Nemanja Grbović, Miodrag Ćorsović;
Backs: Arsenije Dragašević, Milorad Bakić, Vuko Borozan, Vasilije Kaluđerović, Radojica Čepić, Filip Krivokapić, Branko Vujović, Stefan Čavor.
In the play-offs against Italy, Montenegro aims to secure a spot in the World Championship for the second consecutive time and for the third time overall, having previously qualified for the championships in 2013 and 2023.
