The fourth training session of the Montenegrin national football team proceeded under somber circumstances as they prepare for the World Cup qualifiers.
Tragically, former “Falcons” player Andrija Delibašić passed away today at the age of 44. The team’s players honored him with a minute of silence.
In light of this sudden loss of one of our national team legends, there was no typical media briefing today, meaning no statements were made ahead of the upcoming matches against Gibraltar and the Faroe Islands.
The Montenegrin team will host both opening qualifier matches in Nikšić, facing the southern European team on Saturday at 18:00, followed by a match against the northern European team on Tuesday at 20:45.
This will provide Stevan Jovetić and his teammates a chance to honor the late striker with victories in the city where Delibašić was born.
In advance of the training, the Football Association of Montenegro announced that a memorial service for Andrija Delibašić will take place on Friday at 9 a.m. at the Montenegrin National Theatre.
