Prime Minister Spajić Participates in ESG Adria Summit
Montenegro seeks to serve as a model demonstrating that economic advancement can occur while adhering to established regulations. Our goal is to foster an environment conducive to job creation, economic growth, and an enhanced quality of life for our citizens—taking full political and legal responsibility throughout the process, stated Prime Minister Milojko Spajić during his address at the ESG Adria Summit, held in Porto Montenegro, Tivat.
During the panel discussion titled “Certainty, Confidence, Growth,” which centered on investment and legal certainty, Prime Minister Spajić highlighted the necessity for Europe to discover strategies to respond to the brisk economic progress observed in various regions worldwide.
In Montenegro, there is a sentiment that our pace is too rapid, yet the reality is—we are lagging compared to the needs of business. We must accelerate our efforts, as success demands it. We have to sprint to catch up with the leading nations. Speed—while strictly adhering to legal frameworks—now signifies economic survival. This is vital for us to comprehend. We must dismantle obstacles to business and eliminate anything that hampers growth or pushes businesses to seek opportunities abroad, remarked the Prime Minister.
He reaffirmed the Government’s dedication to attracting trustworthy, long-term investors.
We desire investors who intend to remain, expand, and contribute to Montenegro—those who will create opportunities for our entrepreneurs. We boast a wealth of talented youth who have yet to be provided with the opportunity to flourish, said Spajić when asked about his vision for Montenegro in the next decade.
I envision Montenegro as an EU member state in ten years, positioned as a leader in innovation and a gateway for significant global corporations into the region. This vision drives us—because we aspire to contribute value to the EU, rather than becoming a nation reliant on the support of other member states, he added.
The Summit, spanning three days, brought together around 700 participants, including high-ranking officials, government representatives, business leaders, decision-makers, entrepreneurs, media, and members of international organizations from both the region and beyond.
Over 140 distinguished speakers, representatives from more than 300 companies, and over 60 young leaders from across the region exchanged best business practices and participated in discussions on sustainable development, innovation, and green transition.
The ESG Adria Summit, the largest regional event focused on sustainability, investment, innovation, and economic progress, is taking place in Tivat (Porto Montenegro) from April 9 to April 11.
