Cyprus Backs Montenegro’s Path Towards European Integration
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Ervin Ibrahimović, held a meeting today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus, Andreas Photiou.
The conversation reinforced the traditionally positive and amicable relations between the two nations, demonstrating a mutual willingness to enhance political dialogue and overall bilateral connections.
The Minister expressed appreciation for Cyprus’s ongoing support for Montenegro’s journey towards European integration, emphasizing the importance of Cyprus’s presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2026 as Montenegro advances further on its European path. He reaffirmed a commitment to the steady execution of reforms, aiming for Montenegro to achieve EU membership by 2028.
Ambassador Photiou assured that Montenegro could rely on Cyprus’s full backing in its goal to become the next member of the Union, highlighting the commitment and vast potential for enhancing bilateral relations in the near future.
The discussion also explored avenues for strengthening cooperation in maritime affairs, education, culture, and the economy, with particular emphasis on fostering connections between the business sectors of both countries.
