A Decrease in Focus Led to Our Loss
The water polo team from Primorje is on the verge of claiming the Montenegrin championship title, leading the series 2:0, yet there is no sense of euphoria following their significant victory against Jadran after five intense matches.
The Kotor team triumphed with a score of 15:13, and the standout performer was goalkeeper Aleksandro Kralj, who first leveled the score just 10 seconds before the final whistle, and later blocked two penalty shots from the opposing team.
“It’s a fantastic feeling. In moments when the team was struggling, we remained focused on our game plan. Now, we can justifiably hope and dream about bringing the title back to Kotor,” commented coach Vjekoslav Pasković.
Kralj was pivotal, with young talent Srđan Janović making an impact by scoring four goals in total, three of which were in regular time.
“Everyone contributed in their own way. We believed until the end – that shot by Aleksandar Kralj was decisive, showcasing his incredible confidence during the penalty shootout. Our team has great chemistry, combining young players with seasoned veterans. That’s our strength,” Pasković added.
On the other hand, Jadran coach Petar Radanović expressed his disappointment:
“It’s part of the sport. I believe we lost our focus in the third quarter, which cost us; we conceded two easy goals – and, of course, Aleksandar Kralj’s goal at the end resulted from a turnover,” Radanović explained.
“We need to move forward; I hope we can regroup and deliver an improved performance in Herceg Novi,” Radanović concluded.
The third match is scheduled for Saturday at Škver, where Primorac aims to secure its first title since 2008.
