The men’s cadet handball team from Montenegro concluded their participation in the Mediterranean Championship held in Ankara, securing fifth place.
In a gripping fifth-place match, the Montenegrin cadets triumphed over Kosovo with a score of 16:15.
This victory enabled them to avenge their earlier defeat to the same opponent during the group stages at the beginning of the championship.
This cadre of players, born in 2006 and 2007, guided by coaches Filip Popović and Draško Mrvaljević, finished the tournament with a split record of four wins and four losses.
During the group phase, they achieved victories against France, Tunisia, and Iraq, while suffering losses to Kosovo, Croatia, Turkey, and Romania.
In the encounter against Kosovo, Vuk Lalošević stood out with five goals, while Aleksa Knežević added four goals to the tally.
Granite Kadiri was Kosovo’s top performer, scoring four goals.
The outing at the Mediterranean Championship serves as an invaluable preparation for the European Championship for players under 18, set to take place in Podgorica this August.
