A 47-year-old Russian citizen, referred to as BA, was apprehended in Bar due to being wanted by Russian authorities for his alleged involvement in three fraud cases, as announced today by the Police Directorate (UP).
According to the statement, “In the course of efforts to identify and apprehend internationally wanted individuals, officers from the Border Police Station II Bar, working in conjunction with the Interpol NCB Podgorica, successfully located and detained Russian citizen BA (47) yesterday. Following thorough checks, it was confirmed that he is listed as wanted under an international arrest warrant issued by the relevant authorities in the Russian Federation to ensure his attendance in criminal proceedings concerning suspicions of having committed three large-scale fraud offenses.”
The UP also mentioned that BA will be presented to the investigative judge of the Higher Court in Podgorica, who has ordered his detention pending extradition, within the stipulated legal timeframe.
“Ongoing communication continues between law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation and Montenegro,” the statement from UP concludes.
