Edmir Ramović is facing charges for the reckless revenge killing of fellow citizen Semir Murić in Rožaje. He may soon be granted release to prepare his defense if a first-instance verdict is not reached by May.
To keep the accused in custody, the legal requirement is that a verdict must be delivered within three years of filing the indictment.
This concern was raised yesterday by Vidomir Bosković, the attorney representing the Murić family, in the Higher Court in Bijelo Polje where Ramović is charged with attempted aggravated murder.
Included among those involved in the altercation are Elsan Ramović, along with Salka (51), Ernes, and Ernad Ramović. Additionally, Sabro Ramović (55) faces charges for illegal weapons possession.
The indictment alleges that Edmir Ramović killed Semir Murić in a fit of ruthless revenge and injured a police officer, Refik Dedeić, in the process.
The incident is said to have occurred on December 21, 2021, outside the Basic Court building in Rožaje, driven by an aimless desire for reprisal.
Due to various reasons such as changes in judges and the illnesses of the defendants, the hearing was delayed again yesterday because Salko and Ernad Ramović failed to appear.
Their defense attorney, Drago Konatar, explained that Salko Ramović and Ernad Ramović could not attend due to health issues. He mentioned that medical documentation for Salko, who is currently in poor mental condition, would be submitted later in the day. For Ernad Ramović, he provided medical records from a health institution in Berlin, noting that he is temporarily working in Germany and requested that the court arrange for a translator since the report is in German.
The next hearing is scheduled for March 17.
