“Primorac Ends His Fast and Earns Title After 16-Year Wait”

The highly anticipated Adriatic series has concluded, and it’s time to celebrate in Kotor — Primorac has emerged as the champion of Montenegro in a season that showcased the thrilling nature of club water polo in the nation.

In the final match of the series, Kotor triumphed over their rivals from Bokele, achieving a second victory after a tense clash that ended 16:14 (regular time 11:11). This victory marks their first championship title in 16 years…

Vjekoslav Pasković played a crucial role in leading the team from the coaching bench, having previously participated as a player in the first two finals (2007 and 2008).

Primorac was better equipped for this final matchup than Jadran, driven by a desire to dethrone Novlja — they clinched the title despite not having the home advantage, celebrating two wins at Škver within ten days…

And much like Wednesday’s match in Kotor, each quarter of tonight’s game presented its own narrative; Jadran initially held a two-goal lead but struggled to maintain control and return the series to the ancient city.

The last time the home team enjoyed a two-goal advantage was with only 35 seconds left in the third quarter, when Danilo Radović scored to make it 10:8. However, the guests responded with an impressive 3:0 run, capped off by Marko Mršić’s goal five and a half minutes before the final whistle.

Jovan Vujović later added a five-pointer, and just one shot altered the outcome — Jadra’s left-handed player Ivan Nagaev struck the post in the first series, while Primorac was flawless in five-meter shots, just as in the second match.

Marković, Mršić, Srđan Janović, Petar Ćetković, and Đorđije Stanojević showcased their skills, closing the season on a high note, allowing Kotor to celebrate while Jadran faces the disappointment of being without the cup for the first time in nine years, which has traditionally been housed in their trophy cabinet…

In the winning team, Mršić was the standout performer with four goals, while Marković and Stanojević each contributed three.

Dmitrij Holod emerged as the top scorer for Jadran with four goals.
