Montenegro will not participate in the World Cup, making way for Italy as the unexpected contender. Consequently, a rational decision has emerged…
Some fans at “Morača” called for coach Vlad Šola to resign following the unsuccessful playoff attempt for the World Cup, and shortly after, the Croatian coach announced his resignation, accepting full responsibility.
“I commend the players and take responsibility for everything… Every setback falls on my shoulders. I am resigning immediately, and I apologize if I disappointed the handball community in Montenegro,” Šola expressed during a post-match press conference.
He extended his gratitude to the Handball Association of Montenegro.
“We had a memorable phase during the European Championship. Thanks to the players for their collaboration. I wish everyone the best, and I’ll never speak ill of anyone I’ve worked with in Montenegro. If anyone does speak negatively, there might be valid reasons for it,” he continued.
He maintained a similar tone…
“I can’t claim someone acted intentionally or was unwilling to perform. We were outplayed; we lacked the necessary energy and confidence,” he added.
Clearly disappointed, the former coach refrained from elaborating on the two matches against Italy.
“Italy simply outperformed us in both games—they excelled in both defense and offense. We struggled to respond, starting the match poorly, but I won’t delve into reasons, as it might come off as excuses, and that is not my intention. The truth is—we were outplayed,” Šola remarked.
