The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has issued a principal arrest warrant for Milorad Dodik, the President of Republika Srpska (RS), Nenad Stevandić, the Speaker of the RS National Assembly, and Radovan Višković, the entity’s Prime Minister.
This warrant was placed by the BiH Border Police under the directive of the Court of BiH, following the failure of Dodik, Stevandić, and Višković to appear for a hearing regarding allegations of “attacking the constitutional order of BiH.” Consequently, the court mandated their detention.
Once the central arrest warrant was issued, all law enforcement agencies in BiH received notification and are legally required to detain Dodik, Višković, and Stevandić.
Reports from some media outlets in Sarajevo suggest that, following the issuance of the central arrest warrant, the BiH Prosecutor’s Office may soon issue international arrest warrants against the trio, which would alert Interpol, thus enabling their arrest in any foreign nation they may enter.
Recently, RS President Milorad Dodik announced plans to travel to Moscow on March 18. RS National Assembly President Nenad Stevandić, as noted on his social media, has been in Belgrade since last Friday. Meanwhile, RS Prime Minister Višković is reportedly still in RS.
Two days ago, Stevandić stated on the social media platform Iks that he will hold a press conference on Friday, March 21, at the National Assembly in Banja Luka, promising to address “all possible questions.”
“I invite the curious to attend and to refrain from spreading falsehoods and uncertainties,” Stevandić commented in a post linking to a portal article titled “Stevandić in Belgrade, did he buy a one-way ticket?”
Dodik, Stevandić, and Višković are accused of the crime of “attacking the constitutional order” due to their proposed legislation in the RS National Assembly aimed at prohibiting the operations of certain judicial and police state agencies within RS jurisdiction.
These laws have been declared invalid by the Constitutional Court of BiH.
