“Sharks in the Pool: Operation Paris Begins”
Today, the Montenegrin water polo team commenced their preparations for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, scheduled from July 26 to August 11.
Head coach Vladimir Gojković initiated the introductory phase of the training, where players from local clubs, along with those who concluded their club seasons abroad, will participate.
There is ample time left—almost two months—so the preparatory sessions will be a mix of different phases aside from the final main phase.
“Additional players will join as they complete their commitments with their clubs. We will aim to provide them with as much rest as possible, considering how exhausting the season has been,” Gojković stated.
The “Sharks” will relocate to Los Angeles starting June 5, where they will train alongside the United States national team.
“I am optimistic that we will be fully assembled by that time, and I hope all players will be available except for Miroslav Perković, who will be competing in the Euroleague final four with Novi Beograd during that period,” added Gojković.
At the Olympic tournament in Paris, Montenegrin water polo players are set to compete in Group A, where they will vie for a quarter-final berth against Italy, Croatia, Romania, Greece, and the United States.
Group B features Spain, Hungary, Serbia, Australia, Japan, and France. The water polo tournament at the Olympic Games in Paris will take place from July 28 to August 11.
