A 30-year-old Serbian national, identified as SM from Kragujevac, was convicted by the Budva Misdemeanor Court and sentenced to 20 days in prison.
“He was prosecuted as a foreign national in an expedited proceeding after he insulted police officers at the Security Department in Budva around 9:35 PM two days ago. During the incident, he directed derogatory remarks at police officers AB and LB, saying: ‘F…e one, I curse the Montenegrin nation and the flag you carry on your right arm, I curse your family and this banana state…’ He further insulted officer AB with the statement: ‘M…e one Muslim, you belong in the place you came from, not me. You’re a minority here; you’re the one who should leave, not me'”, stated Marko Đukanović, the President of the Court.
The presiding judge, Magdalena Mijić, ordered that the defendant serve his sentence immediately, prior to the finalization of the decision, and he was subsequently taken to UIKS Spuž following the ruling.
