“I Would Be Proud to Lead the Team in the Inspiring Atmosphere of ‘Morača'”
Vlado Šola stepped down following Italy’s exit from the World Cup play-offs, and it’s possible that Montenegrin handball may soon see another Croatian coach at the helm.
The prospective candidate is Slavko Goluža, a celebrated figure in handball who has recently joined Kuwait’s Al-Kadsia.
The Montenegrin player Vasilije Kaluđerović is part of that team, alongside Vladan Lipovina, who departed from the national squad during Zoran Roganović’s tenure and declined to return under Šola’s leadership. Additionally, Vlatko Đonović, the goalkeeper coach from Bar, is also at Al-Kadsia.
Today, “Dan” reported that Goluža is a potential candidate to lead our national team.
“It would be an honor to coach the team in such a vibrant atmosphere at Morača. That’s all I can say for now,” remarked the 52-year-old coach in an interview with Portal RTCG.
Goluža is regarded as one of the greatest handball players from Croatia. He won the European Championship with Zagreb in 1992 and 1993, and secured two Olympic gold medals as well as a world championship title with the national team.
He served as Lina Červar’s assistant on the Croatian national team from 2006 to 2010 before taking over as head coach, where he achieved three bronze medals at the European Championships, the World Championships, and the Olympic Games.
