“Sharks Suffer Defeat in Season Opener in Los Angeles”

The Montenegro water polo team faced defeat today in Los Angeles, losing to the United States with a score of 16:11 (4:2, 3:3, 5:3, and 4:3) in the first of two friendly matches.

The home team initially took a 2:0 lead and capitalized on two power play opportunities, finishing the first quarter ahead at 4:2.

By the start of the third quarter, the American team extended their lead to four goals (10:6), and in the final moments, Hanes Daube scored his fourth goal, marking the largest margin of the game at five goals (16:11).

From the Montenegrin squad, Dušan Matković, Marko Mršić, Aljoša Mačić, Vlado Popadić, and Stefan Vidović each contributed two goals, while Bogdan Đurđić added one goal to the team’s tally.

The next encounter between Montenegro and the USA, who will compete in the same group at the Olympic Games in Paris, is set to take place in San Diego in two days.
