The President of Kotor Municipality, Vladimir Jokić, and Vasko Ševaljević, former captain of the Lions, have reached an agreement to establish a handball club in Kotor.
To revive the sport of handball in this historic city, Jokić and Ševaljević have decided to create RK Kotor, which will be under the ownership of the Municipality of Kotor. It has been determined that Ševaljević will serve as the club’s president and will oversee the professional segment, leveraging his expertise and experience to greatly enhance its quality development.
Ševaljević boasts an extensive club career, having competed in five European championships and two world championships, and is regarded as one of the finest handball players in Montenegro.
The Kotor Municipality will provide financial and logistical support for all club activities and initiatives aimed at promoting this sport, which has a rich and longstanding heritage in Kotor. Initially, younger teams will be established, and from September 1, children of all ages will be invited to enroll.
By rejuvenating the handball club, the Municipality of Kotor is committed to substantially advancing sports in the area. This dedication is evidenced by the recent achievements of VPK Primorac, the football club Bokelj, and Basketball Club Kotor, all under local government ownership, along with the women’s volleyball club Gimnazilac.
