The Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović is currently on an official visit to the Republic of Armenia, where he had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan.

During his opening remarks, Ivanović expressed his delight at being in Yerevan for the first time and the opportunity to engage in discussions about mutual interests, the deepening of relations, and enhancement of cooperation between the two nations.

A particular focus was placed on tourism, with Ivanović underscoring Montenegro’s plans to establish additional flights between Montenegro and Yerevan for the summer season, which would greatly enhance connectivity and tourism exchanges between both countries.

Mirzoyan conveyed gratitude for Ivanović’s visit and highlighted Armenia’s view of Montenegro as a frontrunner in the European integration process, emphasizing the significant lessons Armenia could learn from Montenegro’s experiences.

He also mentioned that several Armenian businesses are eager to broaden their international engagements, especially with like-minded countries, paving the way for further discussions on business ventures. In this context, Ivanović suggested specific areas of interest for Armenian businesses and stressed the importance of linking commercial entities from both countries via collaboration between chambers of commerce and business associations. He noted the potential for Armenian goods to enter the Montenegrin market, promising mutual economic advantages.

The conversation extended to education and technological innovation, with Ivanović proposing the establishment of a TUMO Center for Creative Technologies in Podgorica. Mirzoyan welcomed this initiative, pointing out that TUMO Centers exist in various countries and that their establishment in Montenegro would represent a significant advancement in digital education and creative technology.

Discussions also encompassed European integration, where Ivanović highlighted Montenegro’s substantial progress in this area. Mirzoyan reaffirmed Armenia’s commitment to pursuing necessary reforms, indicating that Montenegro’s support would be immensely beneficial.

Both officials exchanged perspectives on current geopolitical trends.

At the end of their meeting, Mirzoyan thanked Ivanović for his visit and expressed optimism that cooperation between Montenegro and Armenia would continue to expand and strengthen in the future.

As part of his visit, Ivanović laid a wreath at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex to pay respects to those who lost their lives. Additionally, he visited a street in Yerevan named after Titograd, laying flowers as a gesture of the lasting friendship between Montenegro and Armenia.
