The Union of Municipalities of Montenegro has initiated a Public Call to distribute funds for the execution of development projects beneficial to local self-government units for 2025. A total of 410,000 euros has been allocated for this Call, as per the Financial Plan of the Union of Municipalities. Additionally, the Union has 290,000 euros from the previous year, which is also available to municipalities.

“This public call focuses on distributing funds for the development or revision of technical documentation concerning the construction or reconstruction of local infrastructure. This includes feasibility studies, justifications, conceptual designs, main designs, revised main designs, designs for constructed facilities, and any other types of technical documentation as per legal requirements. Eligible for financing is the planned or contracted technical documentation,” the Union of Municipalities stated.

Eligible participants for this public call include local self-government units that benefit from the Equalization Fund, such as: Andrijevica, Bar, Berane, Bijelo Polje, Gusinje, Danilovgrad, Žabljak, Kolašin, Mojkovac, Nikšić, Petnjica, Plav, Plužine, Pljevlja, Rožaje, Tuzi, Ulcinj, and Šavnik. The maximum funding amount available per municipality is 22,777.78 euros.

“Local governments are permitted to submit applications for multiple development projects, up to the allocated amount. The Union of Municipalities will decide on fund allocation within five days following the submission of a complete application,” the announcement stated.

Since 2023, the Union of Municipalities of Montenegro has been financing the development and revision of municipal project documentation, including conceptual and main projects. This initiative aims to support less developed municipalities that lack sufficient budget resources to independently cover these costs, thereby enabling them to apply for donor funding.

“We would like to remind that last year, the Union of Municipalities of Montenegro allocated 475,418.38 euros to finance the preparation or revision of technical documentation for the construction or reconstruction of local infrastructure, which includes feasibility studies, conceptual designs, main designs, revised main designs, facility designs, environmental impact assessments, and other technical documentation,” concluded the statement.
