Stojan Sjekloća, a member of the Board of Directors at the Post of Montenegro, expressed his support for today’s protest organized by the United Trade Union, emphasizing the need for Jugoslav Marković, the president of the strike committee from 2023, to be reinstated.
Sjekloća remarked that the current state of the Post Office is significantly worse than it was in 2016 and that Marković’s termination is merely a small part of a larger issue.
“To the employees of the Post of Montenegro, although I cannot be present with you, I extend my full support for today’s protest. The troubling facts illustrate the dire situation at the Post of Montenegro: we have received three negative assessments from external auditors for the years 2021, 2022, and 2023, along with a negative report from the State Audit Institution for 2023, and an overall poor condition, of which only a fraction is publicly available. These issues warrant serious attention from the relevant state institutions, especially as conditions worsen daily. During the 85th Board of Directors meeting on February 10, 2025, I shared my proposals aimed at addressing the current unfortunate circumstances at the Post of Montenegro. Regrettably, the gathering today is merely the ‘tip of the iceberg’ and represents a continuation of the farce being enacted by the current management,” stated Sjekloća.
He also recalled being part of the board of directors of the Post Office back in 2016, during a government of electoral confidence.
“At that time, I revealed numerous detrimental contracts and shortcomings. I can say with certainty that the situation at the Post of Montenegro has deteriorated significantly since then,” Sjekloća concluded.
