Today, a collaborative operation involving police officers from the Nikšić Security Department, the Border Police Sector, and agents from the Customs Administration led to the seizure of various goods, including tobacco, knives, textile products, and technical devices valued at over 10,000 euros. This action is aimed at preventing smuggling activities, as announced by the Police Administration.
“While inspecting a freight vehicle operated by 50-year-old E.Č. from Podgorica on the main Podgorica – Nikšić road, officers discovered and temporarily confiscated 83 packages of cut tobacco weighing approximately 45 kilograms, valued over 3,700 euros, along with 33 knives, a significant amount of textile goods, and various small technical devices worth over 6,700 euros. The individual did not have the necessary documentation for these items,” the police statement revealed.
The state prosecutor from the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Nikšić has been notified, and based on their directives, criminal charges have been filed against E.Č. for the suspected crime of illicit trafficking.
The police indicated that they, along with the Customs Administration, will persist in conducting similar operations to curb criminal acts and violations that negatively impact the Montenegrin budget.
