Officers from the Border Police Sector in Bijelo Polje have lodged a criminal complaint against a Russian citizen, AK, for possessing a counterfeit driver’s license as part of their planned initiatives to secure border crossings and combat cross-border crime, according to the Police Directorate.

Today, at the Dobrakovo border crossing, a 62-year-old Russian citizen, AK, arrived at the primary inspection point driving a passenger vehicle with Belgrade license plates.

Upon examining the personal documents provided by AK, both police and Frontex officers raised suspicions regarding the legitimacy of the driver’s license due to specific discrepancies and irregularities in its printing, as stated by the police.

Further investigation suggested that AK had acquired the fraudulent driver’s license in Russia for approximately 500 euros.

The state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Bijelo Polje has been notified about the situation, and, following his directives, criminal charges were filed against AK for the suspected offense of document forgery.

The Border Police Sector will continue its efforts to prevent illegal border crossings, secure the state border, and detect and curb criminal activities and violations, ensuring the safe flow of traffic at border crossings, as concluded in the statement.
