“Water Polo Players Excel Beyond France in Montpellier”
The Montenegro water polo team triumphed over France in Montpellier during the first of two preparatory matches ahead of the Olympic Games.
Coached by Vladimir Gojković, the team, which was missing Petr Tešanović and Đuro Radović, secured a victory with a score of 19:17 (4:5, 4:1, 1:3, 5:5, 5:3).
During the second quarter, Montenegro took the lead at 8:5 after a notable 4:0 run, but the hosts managed to respond in kind, bringing the score to 9:8…
As the match progressed, the teams traded goals, with the “sharks” maintaining an edge until France made a comeback to tie it at 14:14.
Goalkeeper Dejan Lazović made a crucial stop, while five players from our side, namely Stefan Vidović, Vlado Popadić, Marko Mršić, Miroslav Perković, and Danilo Radović, found the back of the net.
In the regular time, Mršić recorded four goals, Dušan Matković added three, and Vidović, Vasilije Radović, and Danilo Radović contributed two each, along with one goal from Popadić.
The second match between Montenegro and France is set to take place on Monday.
