Collaboration within the region plays a vital role in advancing the overall development and success of the European integration process. This was highlighted during a meeting between Montenegrin Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović and Usama Zukorlić, the Serbian Minister without Portfolio responsible for reconciliation, regional cooperation, and social stability.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the discussions primarily revolved around enhancing bilateral cooperation, with a focus on potential opportunities in sectors such as economy, tourism, and both rail and road transportation.

Ibrahimović stressed that the European integration of the Western Balkans is essential, noting that bolstering the region’s security and stability is a crucial requirement for continued prosperity.

He also referenced the reform processes tied to the European agenda that positively influence regional development, affirming that Montenegro is positioned as a leader in negotiations and is ready to assist neighboring countries on their journey toward European Union membership.

Zukorlić remarked that there is substantial potential to enhance cooperation and connectivity between the two nations.

“He particularly underscored the significance of infrastructure projects, which can foster overall connections between businesses and local communities, thereby enhancing cooperation in tourism and economic sectors,” the statement indicated.

The two officials further exchanged views on identity issues and the importance of safeguarding and promoting minority rights.

“Both parties expressed their commitment to ongoing dialogue on all key subjects within the bilateral framework,” the statement concluded.
