Felten Persuades Some Members of the Ruling Majority to Support the Reformed DPS

The leader and Member of Parliament of the Democratic People’s Party (DNP), Milan Knežević, has claimed that German Ambassador to Montenegro, Peter Felten, is persuading certain MPs from the ruling majority to align themselves with the reformed Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS).

Knežević made these comments during today’s parliamentary session while discussing the Law on Identity Cards.

“I am aware that German Ambassador Herr Felten and his deputy are individually engaging members of the ruling majority, convincing them to support the reformed DPS led by Milo Đukanović, and to discard the current government officials,” stated Knežević, before questioning whether “an old or new ID card is needed for the meeting, as he happens to possess an older version.”

He further inquired about the basis on which the ambassador has the authority to form or dissolve the parliamentary majority and undermine the strongest party in terms of deputy count, especially considering that a new government has yet to be established in Germany.

“Imagine if our ambassador in Germany were to approach election victors and dictate how the government should be formed. If such a thing occurred, our ambassador would be immediately committed to a psychiatric hospital and would never see the light of day again. Yet, when Herr Felten engages in such behavior, it’s hailed as a monumental achievement of democracy and European standards, exclusively applicable to Montenegro and somewhat in other Balkan nations,” he emphasized.

Knežević expressed his belief that the ambassador would not reach out to him, although they could engage in dialogue, and that he, as the deputy chairman of the Inquiry Committee, would formally invite Felten to discuss which MPs he intends to align with the DPS.

“Let him reflect on those who murdered Pavle Bulatović, Duško Jovanović, Slavoljub Šćekić, Beli Raspopović, Goran Žugić, Mađo Klikovac—individuals involved in the Kavački and Škaljar clans. Then let’s consider how it would be if Germany’s government was made up of those who took part in political executions. Is Montenegro subjected to different standards than Germany?” he challenged.

In addition, Knežević raised concerns about Felten acting independently, especially since the German government has not been formed, and noted that he seems to be positioning Montenegro against the United States and Donald Trump.

“Since many of my compatriots in America overwhelmingly supported Trump and contributed to his victory, I am sending a message to Felten and the representatives of the deep state currents within the EU: you will not instigate a conflict with Donald Trump. I will not permit you to provoke me with Trump and his current global policies, which I hope will take root in Montenegro as well. Unlike many who supported Biden, we in the ‘For the Future of Montenegro’ coalition have openly backed Trump and campaigned for him, and I want to thank all Serbs from Chicago and other cities, particularly my fellow citizens from Zeta who drive trucks and engage in medicinal marijuana cultivation, for their contributions to Trump’s significant victory,” he commented.

Knežević additionally called for the next German government to send Felten back home or “to Russia, where his in-laws reside.”

“It’s ironic; I have been branded a Russian agent by Felten, yet my in-laws are from Rožaje, and he has relatives in Russia, which raises no eyebrows. It’s time for great Germany to appoint an ambassador who will not meddle in our affairs or engage in political maneuvering, as Montenegro is neither a minor village nor is Felten a mere intermediary. We are a sovereign, independent nation entitled to elect our own governments, shape our own domestic and foreign policies, and ambassadors should recognize their rightful place. The same standards applied to our ambassadors in Western Europe should be upheld for Western European ambassadors in Montenegro who seek to reshape our electoral will,” he asserted.

New Serbian Democracy (NSD) MP Velimir Đoković expressed solidarity with the citizens of Šavnik, who are demonstrating by blocking traffic in protest against “the predicaments created by the previous regime.”

“It is widely known that in Šavnik, there were attempts at electoral manipulation and ‘tourism,’ transporting and registering citizens from Nikšić to distort the electoral outcome in that municipality, which the citizens fought against during the elections and post-election period, and continue to oppose during these protests,” he noted.

Boris Bogdanović, the head of the Democratic Party parliamentary group, claimed that tycoons were taking personal identification cards to “vote on behalf of citizens.”

“It’s been evident that in numerous elections, deceased individuals cast votes and phantoms decided outcomes,” he stated, adding that “the timeline for fake police officers has sadly run out.”

He remarked that the “mafia-police cartel does not exist,” and they have been identified through “the resignations from the Minister of Internal Affairs, Danilo Šaranović, and the Director of the Police Directorate, Lazar Šćepanović.”

Vasilije Čarapić, leader of the Europe Now Movement (PES) parliamentary group, characterized the ID card as having become a form of currency instead of a means of identification.

“The DPS has managed to win elections for decades by buying ID cards. To illustrate, in Šavnik, there were reports of police members, previously led by respected MP Filip Adžić, unloading bags of ID cards in their offices and adding them to the voter list at a few addresses. This resulted in hundreds of individuals intended to alter the electoral outcome in Šavnik,” he explained.

Čarapić continued, stating the census reports approximately 1,500 residents in Šavnik, around 1,300 of whom are adults, while the voter list indicates 1,900 voters.
