Young Water Polo Players Fall in Second Round of World Championship

In the second round of Group A at the World Championship for players under 18 in Buenos Aires, Montenegro’s water polo team faced a tough defeat against Hungary, ending the match with a score of 10:9.

This marks the first loss for coach Miodrag Mirović in the championship, following their initial victory over the United States, which they won 13:11.

Throughout the match, the Montenegrin national team held the lead for the majority of the game, at one point extending their advantage to two goals on three occasions.

Entering the final quarter with a score of 9:7 in their favor, Montenegro experienced a shift in momentum as Hungary launched a comeback with three consecutive goals, securing their victory.

Montenegro had an opportunity to level the score, but Danilo Stupar’s last-second shot went above the goalpost.

Strahinja Gojković, Danilo Stupar, and Tim Perov were the double scorers for Montenegro, while Ivan Marković, Nikola Petrović, and Draško Samardžić each contributed one goal.

For Hungary, Botond Balog shone as the standout performer, netting four goals.

Later tonight, Montenegro will face Serbia in the final round of the tournament.
