SC Derby faced its sixth defeat in the AdmiralBet ABA League, continuing their struggle against Mega, who secured an 82:77 victory at “Morača”.
“Mega earned this win. They excelled in the crucial aspects—striking free throws and dominating the boards, particularly in the second half and the final quarter. These factors disrupted our rhythm, and we were aware that Mega performs fundamental tasks effectively. We maintained control for a time, but as we lost our grip on loose balls, our opponent capitalized with easy points,” remarked SC Derby coach Petar Mijović.
The SC Derby squad had a tough night at the free-throw line, missing eight out of 29 attempts.
“Free throws and rebounds—those were the game’s turning points,” Mijović added.
Looking ahead, SC Derby will travel to Borc for an away match on January 4.
“It will be a challenging match; Borc is an experienced and competitive team. We will keep fighting and head into it with the aim of securing a positive result,” Mijović stated.
Mega has now tallied three consecutive victories in the regional league.
“We understood that Derby generates many points from fast breaks and second chances. We managed to control that aspect and achieved a significant win. In the second half, we relied on five players who delivered the performance we needed,” commented Mega’s coach Marko Barać.
