Montenegro Defeats France in Šabac, Concludes Tournament on a High Note
Over the span of four days, the Montenegrin water polo team showcased impressive skills, securing four victories and just one loss during their preparatory tournament for the Olympic Games held in Šabac.
In the concluding match of the tournament, the “Sharks” triumphed over France with a score of 14:12 (3:5, 3:3, 5:3, 3:1).
Prior to facing France, they achieved wins against Romania (10:6), Germany (14:7), and Serbia (18:17) by a margin of five points, but fell short against Australia, losing 13:11.
The team is set to complete its preparations in Podgorica, where they will face Australia in an official friendly match on July 15.
Vladimir Gojković’s squad secured the victory against France after an impressive comeback at the end of the third quarter.
Despite trailing 7:3 in the second period, they launched a scoring spree of 5:0, turning a three-goal deficit into a two-goal lead (13:11) just four minutes from the match’s conclusion.
Danilo Radović and Đorđe Stanojević each contributed three goals, while Marko Mršić, Bogdan Đurđić, and Dušan Matković added two goals apiece. Vlado Popadić and Miroslav Perković also chipped in with one goal each.
