Two Buducnost Goals Spark Controversy: Referee Savo Vujović’s Intent or Oversight? (VIDEO)
The Mornar football club has released a statement voicing their dissatisfaction regarding the officiating during the second half of the season.
This past weekend, Barani faced Buducnost at the DG Arena, and they had strong opinions about the performance of referee Savo Vujović.
Here is the full announcement:
“With great reluctance, we find it necessary to communicate with the public following the recent incidents and officiating errors in our matches. Last season, we all witnessed how refereeing decisions hindered our chance to secure the historic championship title of Montenegro.”
“However, just a few rounds into this championship, the referees have chosen to create significant challenges for our team and our city once more. It began during the match against Dečić, where we suffered a loss. We do not intend to diminish Dečić’s victory, but we were denied a fair contest with 11 players on the field. With the score tied at 0:0, referee Odalović issued a yellow card to our player Đurišić, and neither of those calls was justified. Ultimately, we lost the match with a score of 2:0.”
The tipping point came in the recent game against Buducnost, officiated by Savo Vujović. The two goals scored by Buducnost stemmed from either the ignorance or the intent of referee Vujović.
In the first instance, our player cleanly dispossessed his opponent, yet a foul was called leading to a goal. The second occurred when our goalkeeper saved a penalty, but a Buducnost player, positioned 3-4 meters inside the penalty area, scored an invalid goal.
“While we could attempt to overlook these critical errors that had a direct impact on the outcome, we cannot ignore the arrogant demeanor and insults directed at everyone from our esteemed club. It seems that only Savo possesses the knowledge and insight,” Barana concluded in their statement.
Accompanying the press release, the club provided a video to the media showcasing the refereeing mistakes:
