Search Efforts for Mother and Child Ongoing
Ivana Đuretić, a 30-year-old resident of Podgorica, along with her minor child, was reported missing by her family on March 11, and they have not yet been located.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that their Directorate for Protection and Rescue, in collaboration with the Protection and Rescue Services from the municipalities of Tivat and Kotor, conducted a search of the right bank of the Morača River this morning using boats, scooters, and specialized underwater drones.
Simultaneously, teams from the Capital City Protection and Rescue Service were scouring the left bank near the Luča Bridge.
“Divers from RCUD in Bijela, members of the Special Police Unit, along with numerous local volunteers, are actively participating in the search efforts. Additionally, pilots from the MUP’s Helicopter Unit have conducted aerial searches to find the missing individuals,” the MUP stated.
They indicated that the search operations are being hampered by high water levels and extremely poor visibility; however, they assured that efforts would continue with “intensive utilization of all available resources.”
“The search will resume tomorrow, and teams from the Directorate will be joined by rescuers from the Protection Services of the Municipalities of Plužine and Nikšić,” the statement concluded.
