Montenegrin water polo athlete Aleksa Ukropina has been handed a two-year suspension, as confirmed by “News” from the Water Polo and Swimming Federation of Montenegro.
As a result, Ukropina is barred from competing until February 2026, following a ruling from the Anti-Doping Section of the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
This left-handed water polo player tested positive for a prohibited inhalant and was screened prior to the World Championships in Doha this February.
The positive result was received during the World Cup, just before the quarter-final match against Spain, causing Ukropina to miss competitions against Greece and Hungary in the fight for 5th to 8th place finishes.
Our water polo player, who will turn 26 in September, remains ineligible to compete until February 2026.
