Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović stated that no statements from any politician can undermine Montenegro’s historically cordial ties with Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).
Ibrahimović made these remarks during a press briefing following his meeting with Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský. He responded to a question regarding the support expressed by the Montenegrin parliament’s leader, Andrija Mandić, for Milorad Dodik, the President of Republika Srpska, and its potential impact on relations with BiH.
The Minister clarified that the Montenegrin Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) have a definitive stance regarding the connection between BiH and Montenegro.
He affirmed Montenegro’s commitment to supporting the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity of BiH.
Ibrahimović urged all political figures in Montenegro to exercise responsibility in their public statements and during visits to other nations.
“I am pleased that our friends in BiH recognize that the views of certain politicians do not represent the official standpoint of Montenegro,” Ibrahimović remarked.
He assured that Montenegro will continue to nurture amicable and neighborly relations with BiH.
“No statement from any politician, regardless of their position, can endanger the traditionally amicable ties with BiH,” Ibrahimović concluded.
