The President of Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, stated today that any attack on an elected official represents a grave security issue that warrants investigation.
“Political disputes should be resolved through dialogue and the will of the people, not through violence, deception, or hysteria,” Dodik announced on the social media platform X.
Referring to the arson of opposition MP Nebojša Vukanović’s vehicle in Trebinje last night, he expressed hope that the responsible authorities would swiftly identify and penalize not only the perpetrators but also those who ordered the act.
“Republika Srpska stands firmly against any form of violence, irrespective of political differences,” Dodik asserted.
He emphasized that RS has no vested interest in such occurrences, particularly at a time when they are confronting significant challenges.
“As we uphold democracy and the constitutional order against the unlawful actions of High Representative Kristijan Šmit and attempts to enforce Sarajevo’s will, any endeavor to destabilize RS only benefits those who seek to undermine our people and institutions. Given the rapid media manipulation from Sarajevo, I would not be surprised if an attempt is made in that direction,” Dodik remarked.
He reiterated that “these incidents will not be exploited to incite chaos or compromise political stability.”
The fire incident involving Vukanović’s car took place outside his home in Trebinje mere hours after a tumultuous session of the RS National Assembly, which was marked by heated verbal exchanges, threats, and the ejection of opposition members from the assembly hall.
Today, Vukanović shared a video featuring Parliament Speaker Nenad Stevandić, who, struggling to continue his speech due to interruptions from the opposition, was seen smiling while saying, “We have to kill all of this, I’ll kill them all.”
