The Montenegro men’s handball team began its campaign at the European Championship for players under 18 in Podgorica with a loss.
The Montenegrin squad fell short in the Bemax Arena, losing to Italy with a score of 32:30.
Italy maintained the advantage for most of the match, although Montenegro had a strong period at the end of the first half, leading by two goals (14:12) in the 26th minute.
Italy managed to take the lead by the end of the first half (16:15), and the outcome seemed certain in the 44th minute when the deficit grew to six goals (24:18).
Petar Radoičić was the standout performer for Montenegro, scoring seven goals, while Filip Božović contributed five. Vuk Lalošević and Dražen Peruničić each added four goals to the tally.
The Montenegrin national team is set to face the Faroe Islands tomorrow at 17 p.m.
