The basketball teams from Partizan and Cedevita-Olimpija had competitive and closely contested games in recent seasons, and tonight’s match in Belgrade was no exception.
In the 14th round of the AdmiralBet ABA League, the “Black and Whites” managed to overcome the Slovenian champions with a score of 78:76, marking the end of their two-game losing streak in this tournament.
Cedevita-Olimpija largely controlled the game, establishing an 11-point lead in the first half (35:24) and even stretching it to a maximum of 14 points in the final quarter (66:52).
Partizan clawed back to a deficit of six points (66:60), and after successful free throws from Davis, they managed to level the game at 69:69. However, with just 41 seconds remaining, the visitors had a four-point lead at 75:71 following a point from Robinson. Washington then converted two free throws (75:73), Nikolić made one from the line (76:73), and Karlik Jones hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 76:76.
Cedevita-Olimpija’s coach, Zvezdan Mitrović, called a time-out, which proved ineffective as Lemar committed a passing error with just 11 seconds to go. Brown intercepted the ball, leading to Washington’s fast-break that set the final score at 78:76.
Cedevita-Olimpija had opportunities to claim victory, but both Lemar and Nikolić missed crucial three-point attempts.
Washington was the top scorer for Partizan with 18 points, while Lemar led for Cedevita-Olimpija with 24 points.
