This morning, former Minister of Spatial Planning, Urbanism, and State Property, Janko Odović, was interrogated at the Special Police Department as a private citizen.
Inspectors interrogated Odović for two hours, but the session was halted, requiring him to return to the SPO on Monday.
Upon entering Montenegro yesterday, Odović was informed by border police of his summons from the SPO, and had he failed to show up this morning, detention would have been enforced.
The summons was issued in his role as a citizen amidst an investigation by the Special State Prosecutor’s Office focusing on permits for major coastal projects.
The inquiry involves the construction of towers at the site of the former Adriatic Fair in Budva, along with skyscraper developments in Bar.
SPO inspectors sought clarification from Odović about a construction permit for two towers by Mia Investments, questioning whether it adhered to legal standards and procedures.
He provided a statement to the inspectors over two hours, commending their efficiency and professionalism.
Odović explained that the construction permit was issued on the last, or penultimate day of his mandate, clarifying he neither signed nor had the authority to sign it; that responsibility lay with another individual.
He emphasized that it is in the best interest of all citizens to confirm whether the legal protocols were observed.
Odović expressed his support for the efforts of the SPO and the Special State Prosecutor’s Office to thoroughly investigate all related facts and circumstances.
He is expected to return to the SPO on Monday to answer inquiries regarding the construction of skyscrapers in Bar as a citizen.
