Jovanka Radičević to Retire at Season’s End

Jovanka Radičević, a prominent figure in Montenegrin handball and former national team player, has announced her retirement from the sport at the end of the current season.
The Krim handball player expressed that her decision to retire was made with great consideration, stating she is proud of all that she has accomplished throughout her career.
“I take my decisions seriously. In both my personal life and in my sporting career, I have followed my intuition, which has guided me correctly until now. I am proud of my achievements. This decision comes from the heart. I know we have a talented team and I will give my all to cherish our final moments together. It’s my wish to reach the finals, and I hope we can make it happen. I believe I will bid farewell to the national team in a manner that befits my journey,” Radičević stated.
Jovanka Radičević is regarded as one of the best right wings in handball history, earning the title of the best player in her position four times – in 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
She celebrated a Champions League victory with Žer in 2013, and has finished as a runner-up in that tournament on three occasions.
During her time with the Budućnost handball team, she secured the Cup Winners’ Cup twice – in 2006 and 2010.
Radičević left a significant impact while playing for the national team of Montenegro. As part of the “lionesses,” she clinched European gold in 2012 and bronze in 2022, marking her departure from international competition.
Additionally, the “lionesses” achieved a historical silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics during her tenure.
Throughout her career, she represented teams such as Budućnost, Đer, Vardar, Bucharest, Kastamonu, and since 2022 has been playing for Krim.
Jovanka Radičević holds the record as the all-time best scorer in the Champions League.
