We Have Yet to Take an Official Stance on the Proposed Maritime Safety Act
The Maritime Department has responded to the article titled “The Maritime Department dissatisfied with the draft Maritime Safety Law: The registration of passengers on the ferry will take longer than the ride,” which was published on the Vijesti Portal.
According to their statement, the public company has not issued any official position or statement concerning the draft Maritime Safety Law.
“The allegations published are baseless and do not reflect the official stance of the company. We specifically want to highlight that the name of Aleksandar Crvenko was mentioned in an inappropriate context in the media coverage. As he clearly stated, his discussion with the journalist was purely informal and should not be interpreted as the official view of the company. We deem the release of such information to the public without prior verification and authorization as irresponsible reporting, which could result in misinterpretation and misinformation among the public. We stress that the Public Company for Maritime Domain Management, in collaboration with the Government of Montenegro and the relevant ministry, will articulate its positions on the draft Law on Maritime Safety through regular activities, public hearings, and meetings. We urge the media to uphold the principles of professional and accurate reporting on such critical subjects to prevent inaccurate interpretations and the spread of unverified information,” the statement concludes.
(The journalist’s response will be published tomorrow)
