Deadline for Submitting Bids for Montenegrin Airport Lease Extended to May 7
The Tender Commission for the Contract Association regarding the use rights of Podgorica and Tivat Airports has made a unanimous decision to extend the deadline for submitting bids for the next phase of the process to 7. May 2025.
This decision was reached after addressing the requests of qualified bidders from the first phase, as noted by the Minister of Economic Development and President of the Tender Commission, NIK ĐAJOŠIJA.
He remarked that while some bidders requested a more extended deadline, the Tender Commission deemed that an extension to 7. May was optimal, considering the complexity of the procedure and the project’s significance.
He emphasized that extending the deadline would not adversely affect the procedure’s progress, but would instead allow bidders to undergo a detailed evaluation in line with the existing criteria and terms of the process.
Prime Minister Milojko Spajic mentioned today that the three finalists have requested additional time to prepare their bids.
“When it comes to airports, we have had a seven to eight-year journey, and Montenegro has been on the sidelines. As a responsible state, we need to fairly engage with all investors,” Spajic stated during a press conference.
The Ministry of Transport had previously issued a pre-qualification tender for airport concessions in October 2019, resulting in seven applications, four of which were qualified, with one bidder withdrawing.
The remaining contenders include Incheon International Airport, Luxembourg Corporation America Airports, and the French-Turkish Consortium Airports de Paris – TAV. However, the process was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, preventing any of the three shortlisted bidders from submitting a final offer to date.
