“Strugar Falls Short in Krajina: Jovović Dominates Varaždin, Bojić and Turšad Say Farewell to the Efeler League”

Last weekend, several players from the Montenegrin national team delivered outstanding performances. Among them, Jovović particularly shone, while Strugar, Bojić, and Ćinćur were unable to secure victories for their teams despite their impressive individual efforts.

Bojan Strugar and his team, Craiova, could not advance to the semi-finals of the Romanian championship playoffs. They suffered a 3:1 defeat to Corona in Brașov (24:26, 25:16, 25:19, 25:21) away from home. Despite leading the match and having the top scorer, Strugar calculated an impressive 25 points with a 50% success rate in attacks, which was overshadowed by the host team’s remarkable collective performance. The return match is set to take place in Craiova on Friday.

Đorđe Jovović also showcased an excellent performance, contributing significantly to Mladost’s latest victory. In their 17th win of the Croatian Super League season against Varaždin, where they triumphed 3:1, Jovović secured 28 points. Young middle blocker Nikola Đurović did not participate in the penultimate round, but together with his teammates, he will wrap up the regular season with a match in Rijeka.

Ribola Kaštela, under the leadership of our volleyball player Vukašin Cimbaljević, is on the verge of clinching second place. They defeated Split on the road with a score of 3:0, and Cimbaljević concluded the match with seven points.

Middle blocker Srđan Petrović enjoyed success in the league’s penultimate round as he and his team Marsonia overcame Sisak 3:0, securing fifth place in the standings ahead of the playoffs.

Turşad, led by our serve receiver Marko Bojić, faced elimination from Turkey’s top league after a seven-game losing streak starting in early February. Their final round defeat was anticipated as they played against the leading team of the Efeler League, Zirat Banka, who won in three straight sets. Bojić scored 17 points with a 57% success rate in attacks.

Despite Matija Ćinćura’s commendable performance, Alpaca Kanal fell to Kalcit 3:2 in the 10th round of the Slovenian championship’s second phase. This loss did not affect the team’s plans as they had already secured second place in the standings. Ćinćura tallied an impressive 14 points, and he and his teammates will face a doubleheader against Pomgrad in the quarterfinals of the 1st DOL league playoffs.

Milutin Pavićević, a Montenegrin corrector, achieved a significant victory with his team Karađorđe in the race for fifth place in the Serbian Super League. In the penultimate, 21st round of the league, Karađorđe defeated Spartak 3:0, with Pavićević contributing 11 points. The Topola team now sits in fifth place ahead of their match against fourth-placed Dubočica, holding two fewer wins. To maintain their fifth position, Karađorđe must either win or hope for a Partizan loss against Red Star in their derby match.

The red and whites secured a solid victory against last-placed Ribnica, winning 21:3 in the 1st round. Coach Ivica Jevtić’s team is lagging behind Radnički and Vojvodina in overall wins.

In the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jovan Delić’s team, Domaljevac, convincingly defeated Ljubinje 3:0 in the first game of the quarterfinals. Delić played in the first two sets, contributing three points to the victory.

In Qatar, Al Sadd, coached by Marko Joksimović, lost in a derby clash against Al Gharafa, finishing 3:2. Joksimović participated throughout the match and contributed two points.

Coach Darko Prebiracević’s team is in excellent form, achieving their fifth consecutive win by defeating the penultimate team, Al Kor, 3:0. They are now just one point behind second-placed Al Wakra, who is on a three-game losing streak, while leading Al Rajan has recorded 16 wins in 17 games.
