The Budva police illegally filmed me without my knowledge and prior notice while I was in the premises of the Budva Security Department (SB), Aleksandar Damjanović, president of the non-governmental organization (NGO) Montenegrin Cultural Network (CKM), announced today.
He stated in a statement that this was determined by the Agency for Personal Data Protection and Free Access to Information, after conducting a control of the legality of video surveillance, which is not available in the premises of the Budva Police Station.
“In the decision it delivered to me, the agency concluded that I was being illegally filmed and issued an order to immediately remove the video surveillance, as well as to delete the recordings of me from its system. My reliable information indicates that the cameras located in several locations in the premises of the Budva Police Department also record sound, which is also an illegal act,” Damjanović pointed out.
He added that after establishing the facts, the question arises, what message are the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) and the Budva Police Station sending to the citizen?
“Those who should be standing on the defense of respect for the law are the spearheads of violating the rights of citizens, who ultimately pay for their work by spending their money every day. This illegal action is another indicator of the disarray in which the security sector finds itself, which should be an example to everyone of how to respect the law and regulations,” said Damjanović.
He said that it was incredible that Budva police inspector Dario Knežević called him right under the camera to inform him of the prosecutor’s decision, following his report that he had filed against Blaž Dedić for usurpation of property.
He also claims that Dedić is a close friend of Knežević.
“I will not call on Minister Danilo Šaranović to react, because he does not know what I am talking about, but I will take this opportunity to appeal to the Director of the Police Administration, Lazar Šćepanović, to seriously review the work of the Budva Police Department, with special reference to the head of the Demokrat personnel, Dragoljub Vujović, and inspector Davor Knežević,” Damjanović said.
