The Montenegrin junior water polo team from Tivat has journeyed to Burgas, Bulgaria, to compete in the European Championship for athletes under 1 from September 7 to 19.
Coach Miodrag Mirović will rely on the talents of Dušan Vuković, Andrija Bjelica, Tim Perov, Đorđe Pejović, Meldin Hadžić, Andrija Roganović, Nikola Petrović, Strahinja Gojković, Ognjen Moračanin, Srđan Janović, Balša Vučković, Danil Stupar, Drasko Samardžić, Miloš Milinić, and Stefan Vraneš during the championship held in the coastal city.
Assisting Mirović as part of the coaching staff will be former “Shark” defender Uroš Čučković and Nikola Mijanović.
Our team faces three opponents and three exciting derbies in group A—against Croatia, Spain, and Hungary.
The opening match is against “La Furia” on September 1 at 16:00, followed by a game against Hungary on September 2 at 14:15, and concluding group play against Croatia on September 3 at 17:45.
Group B includes Greece, Germany, Serbia, and Italy; Group C features France, the Netherlands, Turkey, and Malta; while Group D comprises Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria, and the Czech Republic.
The top two teams from groups A and B will advance directly to the quarterfinals, with the third-placed teams from those groups competing against the second-placed teams from groups C and D in the round of 16. Additionally, the winners of groups C and D will face the fourth-placed teams from groups A and B for a chance to reach the top eight.
Montenegro’s representation at the European Championship will also include referee Andrija Đurašković.
