In an exhilarating clash, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid ended their first leg of the Spanish Copa del Rey semi-final in a thrilling 4-4 draw at Barcelona tonight.
Atletico Madrid started strong, taking a two-goal lead within the first six minutes—Julián Álvarez scored the first goal, followed by a second from Antoine Griezmann. However, Barcelona fought back, equalizing before halftime with goals from Pedri in the 19th minute, Pau Cubarsi in the 21st minute, and Inigo Martinez in the 41st minute.
In the second half, Robert Lewandowski further extended Barcelona’s lead with a goal in the 74th minute. Yet, Atletico refused to back down, managing to level the score again with Martin Llorente’s goal in the 84th minute and Alexandre Serlot’s strike in the third minute of stoppage time.
The two teams will face each other once more in the return match scheduled for April 2nd in Madrid.
Meanwhile, the second semi-final will feature a showdown between Real Madrid and Real Sociedad, with their first match taking place tonight.
