The water polo club Primorac has nominated Veljko Uskoković for the position of president of the Water Polo and Swimming Association of Montenegro.
“At VPK Primorac, we believe that immediate changes are essential, and thus we proudly announce the candidacy of our renowned water polo player Veljko Uskoković for the new president of VPSCG,” expressed Siniša Kovačević, the president of the Kotor club.
Primorje emphasized the need for reforms following the Olympic Games and the end of head coach Vladimir Gojković’s term, highlighting that the current VPSCG leadership lacks the required majority to convene a scheduled regular assembly.
“I believe it is crucial to start necessary changes within VPSCG, as it is evident to everyone that the current system is not functioning. We wish the current president of VPSCG, Đur Marić, a speedy recovery,” Kovačević added.
Representatives from Primorje, Siniša Kovačević as vice-president of VPSCG and Mirza Krcić as president of the VPSCG Assembly, have resigned from their positions, citing dissatisfaction with the operational dynamics and relationships within VPSCG.
Veljko Uskoković is a water polo icon, having captained the “Sharks” in Malaga in 2008 when Montenegro claimed the European championship.
“We are confident that Mr. Uskoković will infuse new energy and innovation into the Association’s work, enabling the structured coordination and oversight of water polo sports in Montenegro, whilst directly and expertly monitoring club operations and proposing solutions for the successful and efficient functioning of VPSCG,” concluded Kovačević.
The current VPSCG leadership’s term is set to expire in 2026.
